What are the most popular trim sizes for full-color art books?

The two most popular art book sizes are Portfolio Letter (8.5" × 11") and Modern Square (8" × 8"). For Japanese convention illustration collections, we also manufacture authentic JIS B5 (7.17" × 10.12").

Why is 100lb Silk Text the industry benchmark for art books?

100lb Silk Text is a heavy, coated paper featuring a satin micro-coating. It provides maximum ink holdout, rendering deep rich blacks and vibrant highlights without distracting glare, and completely eliminates show-through on double-sided full-color pages.

How do you maintain color fidelity between my monitor and the printed book?

Our digital presses are calibrated with custom ICC press profiles for coated and uncoated stocks. We recommend exporting your files in CMYK using the GRACoL 2006 profile to ensure precise gamut translation.

What cover lamination options do you offer for art books?

We offer commercial Gloss and Matte film laminations on heavy 12pt cardstock covers. For art books, Matte lamination is the community favorite, providing a luxurious, fingerprint-resistant, gallery-grade finish.

What is spine hinge scoring and creasing?

While we do not offer lay-flat binding, we score precision cover hinges 0.25" parallel to the spine on both front and back covers. This allows the cover to hinge open smoothly without stressing the spine adhesive.

What is the minimum order quantity for custom art books?

We have zero minimum order quantities. You can print 10 to 25 copies for an exclusive portfolio or small convention table, or scale to 1,000+ copies for a major Kickstarter art book campaign.
